Double-long slabs
In projects with shorter spans, SL-decks can be produced as double-long or tripple-long units. This is a very cost-efficient solution significantly cutting installation time and costs by reducing the number of crane lifts by 50-89% compared to traditional 1.2-meter wide slabs.
E.g. in a project with spans of 6 meter, double-long SL-decks are delivered as 12-meter long elements spanning over 2 apartment units. The slab is supported by a load-bearing wall on the middle.
Double-long slab installation
In double-long and tripple-long SL-decks, the lightweight concrete is omitted in the cross-section over the middle support member creating a zone of solid concrete. This enables forces from walls to pass through the slab.
In terms of sound, the solid zone of concrete works just like a traditional joint, thus preventing sound from traveling between dwellings.
