Super wide slabs
Up to 3.6-meter wide slabs
With more and more building projects being concentrated in densely populated metropolitan areas where space is limited, crane costs and installation time continue to account for an increasing portion of the final installed slab cost.
SL-decks have been specifically developed to allow for production of very wide slab elements (up to 3.6-meter).
The larger slab width greatly reduces the number of units to be handled in the factory as well as on-site, and thus not only enable a very cost-efficient production process but also significantly cut installation costs and time.
The SL-deck and the SL-deck production machinery currently exists in three versions as described below.
Denmark: 2.4-meter width
Finland: 3-meter width
USA: 3.6-meter width
Due to the use of self-compacting concrete, SL-decks can easily be produced in any desired width narrower than the standard (max) width as required in a specific project.
Additional installation benefits
Solid ends
SL-decks are casted with solid concrete in the ends, i.e. with no lightweight blocks. As a result, SL-decks don’t have problems with water captured inside the slab, nor any resulting freezing damages during winter.
Other benefits of having solids ends include the possibility of creating hidden connections, welded-end diaphragm, and spanning openings with fewer supports.
Shoulders for rebars
SL-decks are designed with “shoulders” for the joint reinforcement. These shoulders are very effective in keeping the joint reinforcement in place when the joints are grouted, so the reinforcement doesn’t end up in the bottom and repair work can be avoided.
